Project

Cadastrapet is an exciting startup project that secured 3rd place in the Startup Weekend event. The app aims to offer a Pet ID with a comprehensive online medical history. To identify market opportunities, we conducted thorough research with potential clients. Armed with a core concept, we proceeded to design the visual identity, login screens for both pet owners and veterinarians, as well as the app screens.

Goals

Goal 1

Have validated personas to use as a source of inspiration

Goal 2

Create the main screens and flow for the experience of the Pet owners

Goal 3

Create the main screens and flow for the experience of the veterinary

Problem statements

Initially, our primary concept revolved around developing an app for remote medical consulting. However, due to the prevailing laws in Brazil at that time, this idea proved unfeasible. Nevertheless, our determination to find a viable solution led us to conduct in-person research near pet shops and delve deeper into the realm of medical pet assistance. Eventually, we identified a concrete and significant user problem that guided the direction of our project.

Pet owners often struggle to maintain their pets' medical histories as information can get lost with new vets. There is a need for a secure and convenient way to store and access these records, ensuring no vital details are missed.

Veterinarians often struggle to provide optimal care due to gaps in essential health information from pet owners, highlighting the need for a solution that offers comprehensive and accurate medical records for pets.

Research insights

The research conducted in local pet shops and clinics prompted us to delve deeper into our understanding of the users' needs. We decided to validate our assumptions through user research involving approximately 50 pet owners. The valuable insights gained from this extensive research led to significant outcomes and discoveries.

About 85% of pet owners wanted a digital medical history of their pets and didn't know where they had stored the documents of a previous medical appointment.

Around 90% of the users said that having the medical history shared between clinics would be a great concept to help them take care of their pets without needing to keep many documents.

The majority of pet owners didn't have a history of vaccines or other medical treatments for their pets, including important information about having allergies to medicines, which could result in serious problems.

Empathizing with the user

In pursuit of a thorough understanding of the app's target users, a series of user interviews were conducted. Participants from various backgrounds were engaged to gain insights into their needs, preferences, and pain points, culminating in the identification and deep comprehension of the personas expected to utilize the application.

Pet owner app

Because of the limited time available to thoroughly explore UI possibilities, we decided to focus on delivering screens that would quickly demonstrate how the idea would function. The app allows pet owners to add multiple pets independently of the species or type, with sections for:

drag

General information

Vaccine history

Medicine treatments and receipts

Storage for medical documents

Veterinary screens

For the veterinarians, we were worried about creating a quick and easy flow to find the desired pet without the necessity to install any application.

Because of that, we developed the PetCode, in which every pet on the platform would have its own. When a new medical appointment was about to happen, the vet would only need to go to CadastraPet's webpage and enter the code to access the history.

It would also be possible to add a new detail of appointments with notes, uploaded documents, and pictures.

Final Considerations

The ideas for this project are still growing, and for the next steps, there are some features to be added, such as:

A Marketplace for sponsored clinics and pet shops offering discounts and cashback on the mobile app.

Localization collard for the pets with a QR code in case they get lost.
